We are pleased to announce the publication of the 7th edition of MULTIPLE-CHOICE AND FREE-RESPONSE QUESTIONS IN PREPARATION FOR THE AP BIOLOGY EXAMINATION.
The 7th edition has been modified and updated to reflect the current AP biology curriculum. Two new sections about mathematical analysis and laboratory investigations have been added to the book. About 40% of the questions have been changed or updated. There are total of 309 multiple-choice, 38 grid-in, and 48 free-response questions. A new formula sheet has been added for students to use with practice tests. Each question has a complete answer with explanations in the teacher's manual.
The book consists of five parts. The first part of the book contains an introduction for students with suggestions for organizing study and review throughout the year. It contains the four Big Ideas of biology and enunciates the science skills that students are expected to have: a strong foundation in biology, as well as experimental, scientific, mathematical and analytic skills. It also contains a description of the current AP Biology Exam.
The second part of the book consists of four chapters for each of the four Big Ideas. Each Big Idea is broken down into sections of review material and ends with 30 multiple-choice , 5 grid-in and 6 free-response practice questions at the end of each chapter. The currently designed questions will demand some biological knowledge, data analysis or science practice in each question.
The third part of the book includes a complete mathematical section. In this section, each formula given on the AP biology formula sheet is discussed with examples for students. There has been a large transition to mathematical skills as a major focus in the curriculum.
The fourth part of the book consists of a brief synapsis of the recommended lab program. There are 13 recommended labs that are explained in this section.
The fifth part of the book consists of 3 sample exams simulating the current College Board Advanced Placement Biology Examination with 63 multiple-choice questions, 6 grid-in numerical questions, 2 long free-response questions and 6 short free-response questions. There is formula sheet that has been added to use with the practice exams.
Student Answer Keys for all multiple-choice questions are separately packaged. Each class order is accompanied by a FREE Teacher's Manual, which contains explanations to the correct choices for all 309 multiple-choice questions, 38 grid-in mathematical questions, and rubrics for all 48 free-response questions (both long and short).
The 7th edition contains many new questions. The questions are as demanding as students will find on the actual AP Biology Examination. Why not give your students the edge?
The author of the 7th edition is Glenn Hartmann. He has been teaching AP Biology at Archmere Academy in Claymont, DE since 1999, where he also serves as the Science Department Chair. He has also been an AP Biology Reader for the College Board since 2004.
